Our Story

We are a family of 4 (plus our dog, Scout) who live in Currumbin Queensland and love to go to the beach, have a day out on our boat, go caravanning and just taking our children on adventures. As a mum of 2 young children I always found beach days hard and annoying as sand isn’t really my friend.
After a day with the kids at Currumbin Beach QLD, whilst we were packing up, we had a wet 12-week old puppy, 2 tired children, sandy toys, wet bulky towels, and the urge to get home and do the bath, dinner, bed routine that all families can relate to.
The one big problem was the large wet sandy beach towels that continued to cover us all in sand when trying to dry off for the drive home. This is where Sandi Toes hoodies started. We set a goal when we first set up Sandi Toes to produce quality products for adventuring families, provide great customer service, but continue to spend quality time with our family at home and on adventures.
It was also very important to us as a family who lives on our waterways to educate our children on sustainability and recycling. We see and remove plastic and rubbish floating in our canals almost daily.  When thinking about what we could do, for our part for our community we researched the best product for us to move forward with. A product that was environmentally friendly, a recycled product, and a product that WORKS. Each towel is made from approximately  20 plastic bottles which is 80% Polyester and 20% Polymide (rPET). rPET fabric (which is plastic bottles) are mechanically broken down into tiny flakes and melted to be spun into yarn. The yarn is then woven into recycled polyester fabric to create our Sand Free Beach Towels.
